It has been revealed that during the time Joe Biden served as vice president, his brother James Biden was hired by a Philadelphia construction firm to broker a deal with the government of Saudi Arabia.
According to the Daily Mail, documents appear to suggest that one of the factors that influenced the firm's decision to take James Biden on was his last name and the fact that he was the sibling of the second most powerful man in Washington.

View on RumbleHill International brought James Biden on in 2011 to negotiate a secret deal with the Saudis behind the backs of three law firms tasked with getting the government to pay $140 million for a desalination plant built by one of the company's subsidiaries in the 1980s.
One of the law firms, Lankford & Reed, claimed that Hill International hired James Biden hoping he would broker a deal before they could, and thus save the construction company the previously agreed upon 40 percent cut of any money they got back.
Lankford & Reed claimed to have been told by Hill International CEO Irvin Richter that they hired James Biden because the Saudis "would not dare stiff the brother of the Vice-President who would be instrumental to the deal."
The law firm hired a private investigator, Thomas Sullivan, to visit James Biden and ask about his involvement. During their meeting, Sullivan alleged in a sworn affidavit, James Biden claimed to have handled "business development" for Hill International, adding that he often represented the firm in meetings "because, of course, the name didn't hurt."
Sullivan went on to claim that "because of his position and relationship" with his brother, Joe, James Biden was present when Hill International was set to receive the "final payment" from the Saudis, which included "cash and 'a very large amount' of future work."
The revelations come as the Republican-led House Committee on Oversight and Accountability continues to dig into the Biden family's overseas business dealings.
"Evidence continues to mount that the Biden family used Joe Biden's name to secure deals around the world to enrich themselves," Chairman Rep. James Comer told the Daily Mail.
He called on the Treasury Department to "provide the suspicious activity reports generated for the Biden family and their associates" to help the committee's investigation.
"If Joe Biden is compromised by his family's deals," Comer added, "this is a national security threat."
