Ricky Gervais mocks transgender people, left-wing reactions to misgendering in new Netflix special

In what has been narrowed in as the most egregious statements amidst the special, Gervais joked about women not having penises.

"Oh, women!" Gervais started, with the segment coming around the 4-minute mark of the special, according to Variety. "Not all women, I mean the old-fashioned ones. The old-fashioned women, the ones with wombs. Those f*cking dinosaurs."

"I love the new women. They’re great, aren’t they? The new ones we’ve been seeing lately. The ones with beards and c*cks. They’re as good as gold, I love them," he said.

Gervais continued on to have a conversation with himself, playing both the role of those on the left who defend the usage of bathrooms by people who identify as a gender different than their biological one, and the role of concerned women, who have expressed their concerns with biological men being allowed in women’s spaces, like bathrooms.

"And now the old-fashioned ones say, 'Oh, they want to use our toilets,'" he said.

"Why shouldn’t they use your toilets?"

"For ladies!"

"They are ladies — look at their pronouns! What about this person isn’t a lady?"

"Well, his penis."

"Her penis, you f*cking bigot!"

"What if he rapes me?"

"What if she rapes you, you f*cking TERF whore."

TERF, or Trans-exclusionary Radical Feminist, has been a title given to those who reject the idea that transgender women are women, a title that has been given to those like author JK Rowling.

In another segment just minutes later, Gervais talked about actor Kevin Hart withdrawing from hosting the Oscars in 2018 after previous tweets surfaced that were deemed homophobic.

"You can’t predict what will be offensive in the future," Gervais said. "You don’t know who the dominant mob will be. Like, the worst thing you can say today, get you cancelled on Twitter, death threats, the worst thing you can say today is, ‘Women don’t have penises,’ right? Now, no one saw that coming. You won’t find a ten-year-old tweet of someone saying, ‘Women don’t have penises.’ You know why? We didn’t think we f*cking had to!"

Despite the comments, Gervais reminded the audience towards the end of the show that he was indeed joking.

"Full disclosure: In real life of course I support trans rights. I support all human rights, and trans rights are human rights. Live your best life. Use your preferred pronouns. Be the gender that you feel that you are. But meet me halfway, ladies: Lose the c*ck. That’s all I’m saying."

According to Variety, the special, which has only been up for a few hours, has already garnered criticism on social media, with some posting on Twitter that they have canceled their Netflix subscription.

In response to Gervais’ special and the backlash, transgender YouTuber and political commentator Blaire White wrote on Twitter that "He is not transphobic. He is bullshitphobic."

The new special comes around seven months since Dave Chappelle’s special "The Closer" premiered on the platform, where his jokes regarding transgender people resulted in widespread opposition, and LGBTQ Netflix employees .
