View on XThe Seattle homeless situtation has been an ongoing issue for quite a few years. In 2020 the police's navigation team that was designated to monitor their homless camps was disbanded by the city council. Following the disbanding it was revealed that the Mayor at the time Jenny Durkan used the team as her personal security detail.
Since that time the situation has only gotten worse. It is estimated that over 13,000 people are living on the streat according to the cities Point-in-Time report in March of 2022. Even as the city spends billions of dollars on "harm reduction," fentynol overdose is a leading cause of death among the Seattle homeless, and crime continues to run rampant within these camps.
