Trump spoke to reporters on his way to Dover, calling the attendance of a dignified transfer “one of the hardest things to do as a president.”
President Donald Trump paid his respects on Wednesday to fallen US service members during a dignified transfer at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.
Trump honored the lives of four service members as they were returned to their families at the air force base. The president stood by and saluted caskets draped in American flags as they were escorted off the airplane during the transfer.

Trump spoke to reporters on his way to Dover, calling the attendance of a dignified transfer “one of the hardest things to do as a president.”
“There’s no games, there’s no nothing — that’s their child,” Trump said. “And all you can do is throw out your heart.”
Two Army soldiers were killed in Iranian missile and drone attacks in Jordan, identified as 25-year-old Tyler Feehan of Hawaii and 19-year-old Isabella Gonzales of Texas. The third service member returned is believed to be the soldier who had gone missing after the Jordan attacks, 28-year-old Angel Rampersad of New York. The fourth, a soldier killed in Iraq, was identified as 30-year-old Michael Swinton of North Carolina.
On Sunday, Trump called the fallen soldiers "patriots" who were protecting the world from Iran achieving a nuclear weapon. “We feel very badly, but you know, those great people, those great patriots were out there fighting so that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon,” Trump told reporters.
After the dignified transfer, Feehan's family flew with Trump aboard Air Force One to an event in Georgia. Trump called their attendance at the event an "honor," drawing applause from the crowd.
