Trump wants to work with Dems, not spend '2 years vetoing everything' after GOP roundly defeated

"I don't want to be just sitting there for two years vetoing everything. They want to see things happen too."

President Trump called into Politico last night with Dasha Burns, saying that he wants to work with the Democrats. This comes after he had declared that he would veto any “insanity” the Democrats attempt to get across his desk. An image of a red hat with the word “Veto” was posted on Donald Trump’s Truth Social last night.

Burns asked him, “What’s your message? What do you think happened with your party tonight?”
Trump said, “I wasn't on the ballot, and we didn't get the people out. But I wasn't on the ballot. If I was on the ballot, we would have won. We would have won it all very easily.”
Burns pressed, saying that Trump told voters to vote as if he were on the ballot. Trump revealed that he had been contacted by Democrats about working together over the next two years, but would not say who those Democrats were. He also wouldn’t throw any GOP candidates under the bus.
“We're going to work with the Democrats to make sure things go well for our country,” Trump said. “Very important. They've already called and they want to work with. We have the right to veto everything, but I don't want to be just sitting there for two years vetoing everything. They want to see things happen too.
“So I've already spoken to certain leaders of the Democrat Party, and we'll probably. You know, I have a lot of friends at the Democrats, also. It's sort of an interesting. Has has Jeffries has Hakeem Jeffries called? I don't want to say who does it, but we'll work with the Democrats, and we'll make things work out well for the country.”
To the GOP, Trump said, “All they have to do is come together. A lot of people say the oil price [is] because of Iran. But I’m very, I am totally convinced that my decision on Iran for the long-term good of our country and even the world was an absolutely correct one, and it continues to be.”
When asked if he would use nuclear power in Iran, he said, “I don’t need it.”
On Fox News with Brett Baier, Trump said that he was a little surprised that some candidates didn’t win despite large crowds at rallies. He said, “I thought I could transfer those people into candidates.”
He congratulated Democrats, saying, “they’ve been looking for this one for 11 years and they finally got it. But I don’t view it as a hit on me, I think that we’ve done, we’ve had the greatest two years in the history of the presidency.”
He said, “It’s been done before, as you know, numerous times. It’s the power of veto. It’s one of the stronger powers that a President has. They’ll send over things that are insane and I’ll veto them.” Over time, Democrats will call and ask to work together, he thought.
