Tucker Carlson reveals why presidential candidate Javier Milei is called the ‘Donald Trump of Argentina’

The two sat down to discuss a wide range of topics including inflation, gender ideology, abortion, Pope Francis' affinity for dictators, climate change, China, Donald Trump, and more.

Javier Milei, an economist and former frontman of a classic rock band, has sent a shockwave across the nation after rising to first place in the presidential election, as Argentinians seemingly reject the longtime socialist and communist policies that have failed the South American nation.

The greatest issue that has enraged Argentinian voters is inflation. Milei told Carlson that the once prosperous nation's economy took a turn for the worse when the country started "embracing socialist ideas."

"The analogy of frogs in a pot of water is useful here. When you turn up the heat slowly, the frogs don't realize it. Until the time comes, and when they try to jump out, it's too late, and they end up dead," Milei told Carlson.

"Argentina's embrace of socialist ideas began with an idea that seems attractive but is actually a terrifying way to operate an economic system," he said. "The idea that where there is a need, there is a right. It's a problem because there can be infinite needs but someone always has to pay for those rights. And the resources for that are finite. That sparks a conflict between infinite needs and finite resources."

The two then discussed the Argentinian government adopting fringe academic American-style social justice like gender ideology. Carlson asked why the government aids trans-identified nationals by allowing them to pay lower taxes and what their intention is behind the creation of the Ministry of Women in Diversity.

"In theory, it is supposed to deal with women's issues. But when you look for the results, you find there aren't any," Milei told Carlson. "They just sing songs."

Carlson asked, "Are women happier here?"

"No, because there are no real results," Milei responded. "Just painting a park bench red, or writing a song doesn't fix the conditions or address the problems that women face."

Milei explained that one of the most important achievements of liberalism is equality under the law. He slammed the Ministry of Women and insisted that if the country wants true equality then it needs to enforce the law, not create an exclusive ministry "based on a premise that is totally false." Examples he gave are false claims that Argentinian women are paid less than men, which is similar to the false claims heard in America.

The Catholic presidential hopeful, who has been waging a verbal war with Pope Francis, describing him as someone "who preaches Communism," went on to discuss the Pope's affinity for dictators.

"You're a Catholic. You're defending the Catholic life principle. The current Pope is from Argentina. I would think he would support you, but he instead has criticized you and you called him a communist. Why the disconnect?" Carlson asked.

Milei responded, "Well first because the Pope plays politics. He has a strong political influence and he has shown a great affinity for dictators such as Castro and Maduro. He is on the side of these bloody dictatorships."

"He has an affinity for murderous communists," Milei explained. "In fact, he won't denounce them. He's quite lenient to them. That's a problem but he also takes social justice as a central element of his vision."

Javier Milei is running on a platform that includes: affording the citizenry the right to bear arms, ending the Argentine central bank, dollarizing the economy, and espousing socialist and communist policies.

In a message to Americans, Milei gave advice to "Never embrace the ideals of socialism. We have to be prepared for this, and wage a cultural war every day."
