Two of Gov. Newsom’s children test positive for COVID-19

At the time of publication, Newsom himself, who has recently survived an effort to recall him as governor of California, along with the other two of his four children and his wife, have received negative coronavirus test results.

According to The Hill, the gubernatorial family has had to quarantine twice before upon finding out that they came in contact with individuals who had then tested positive for the virus. One incident from back in November 2020 involved one of Newsom's children and a classmate. Days later, the second contact requiring quarantine involved all six family members having to self-isolate after Newsom's children were in close physical proximity with a California Highway Patrol officer who tested positive for the coronavirus.

Also, in late July, Newsom pulled two of his kids from a basketball camp when he found out that the camp had no mask mandate in place, although he has been known on more than one occasion to break his own pandemic rules.

Erin Mellon, a spokesperson for Newsom, said: "The governor's children tested positive for COVID-19. The governor, the first partner, and the other two children have since tested negative. The family is following all COVID protocols."

"The Newsoms continue to support masking for unvaccinated individuals indoors to stop the spread and advocate for vaccinations as the most effective way to end this pandemic," the Newsom spokeswoman said.
