Two Texas House Democrats who broke quorum by fleeing to Washington DC over a Republican-backed election bill in the state are reportedly vacationing in Portugal after the Texas House Democratic Caucus could not account for them on Tuesday.
State Representatives Jessica González of Dallas and Julie Johnson of Farmers Branch were reportedly not with other Texas House Democrats in Washington DC on Tuesdays according to Texas Monthly reporter Jonathan Tilove.

Responding to a text, González told the San Antonio Express-News "I don't respond to rumors," adding that "no one has shown proof. These are rumors, period. End of story."
Although their absence from Washington DC does not affect the groups plans to break quorum and stay away from Texas through the special session in Austin, it does go against the House Democrats' plan to advocate for federal voting rights legislation in the nation's capital during their absence from Texas.
González and Johnson were reportedly "still participating in caucus meetings via ZOOM," but news of their departure came as over 100 state legislators from across the country traveled to DC to support the Texas democrats' according to the Texas Tribune.
Republican State Representative Tom Oliverson of Cypress slammed the duo’s alleged vacation, noting that he himself had to cancel his as they wait in Austin for the Democrats to return to the state.
"Wow, just wow. Had to cancel my family's vacation last week to Grand Teton [National Park] because of a special session they helped create back in May," tweeted Oliverson. "Texas deserves better than this."
