YIKES: President Biden says he talked about J6 with long-dead German Chancellor Helmut Kohl

On Wednesday, President Biden, 81, claimed that he had spoken with German Chancellor Helmut Kohl about the events of J6, despite Kohl being long-dead at the time of that incident.
He told a group of Democratic donors in New York City that he had discussed the Jan. 6 riot at the US Capitol with Kohl, but Kohl died in 2017, some four years before the events of that day.
Biden made the mistake in front of audiences at two different fundraisers while discussing his first international trip as president to the G7 Summit in Great Britain.
"I showed up … and I sat down and said, ‘America’s back,’ and [French President Emmanuel] Macron looked at me and said, ‘For how long?’ How long? Not a joke," Biden recalled, according to a pool report of the fundraising event that occurred at the home of donor Maureen White, the New York Post reports.
"Helmut Kohl said, 'Joe, what would you think if you picked up the phone and picked up the paper tomorrow and learned in the London Times, on the front page, that 1,000 people stormed the Parliament? Broke down the doors of the House of Commons and killed 2 bobbies in the process … trying to stop the election of a prime minister?'" Biden added.
No officers were killed during the J6 riot at the Capitol, despite Biden's frequent remarks to the contrary.
Kohl passed away almost four years before the G7 meeting in 2021. He led Germany as chancellor from 1982 to 1998. Angela Merkel was the chancellor of Germany at the time that the meeting Biden referenced took place. The president also said this week that he had spoken with European leaders who would have been dead when the alleged discussions had taken place. On Sunday, he tried to tell the exact same tale but replaced Kohl with the former French President Francois Mitterrand who died in 1996.
