"HOW DARE YOU? I WANT THAT THUG IN JAIL!!!!!"
Rapper Nicki Minaj has called for former CNN host Don Lemon to be put in jail after he was seen infiltrating a St. Paul, Minnesota church alongside anti-ICE agitators who harassed worshipers on Sunday. Minaj also posted in support of the congregation.
"DON ‘C*CK SUCKIN’ LEMON IS DISGUSTING. HOW DARE YOU? I WANT THAT THUG IN JAIL!!!!! HE WOULD NEVER DO THAT TO ANY OTHER RELIGION. LOCK HIM UP!!!!!," Minaj posted.
Minaj also posted, "The world is watching," including a photo from inside the church, in which a parent appears to console a child amid the chaos.
Lemon was seen kissing one of the head organizers of "Operation Pull Up" on the cheek, Nekima Armstrong, prior to the agitators storming the church. He also praised the agitators, telling them "Thank you for your service," and handing out coffee and donuts to the group. Lemon told the camera at one point that he knew that the agitators were “gearing up for resistance and protest” at the church.
One of those who stormed the church, William Kelly, said on video as he filmed worshipers in the pews, "As you can see, all these pretend Christians, all these comfortable white people, who are living lavish, comfortable lives while children are dragged into concentration camps." He yelled at one group of women that they were doing nothing to help their "Latino and Somali brothers and sisters."
One of those who attended church, Caleb Phillips, wrote, "One of the 'gentlemen' 'peacefully' protesting in my church today said on video that he was going to go in and flip some tables just like Jesus. Careful sir I think you have a plank in your eye. Never compare your depraved self to my Savior again."
He wrote in another post, "I will be going to protests in Minneapolis tomorrow to preach the word of God to those protesting. They shut our church down this morning before they got to hear the sermon so I will bring Scriptural Truth directly to them. See you soon."
The incident is under investigation by the Department of Justice’s Division of Civil Rights for potential violations of the FACE Act. The law, in addition to protecting abortion clinics, prohibits obstructing, injuring, or intimidating people who are exercising their First Amendment right of religious freedom at a place of worship.
Lemon said in a video after the incident, "The MAGA administration and the fake news MAGAs are losing their mind over something that's not even true." He said that he had "no affiliation to that organization. I didn't even know they were going to this church until we followed them there. We were there chronicling protests. Once the protest started in the church, we did an act of journalism, which was to report on it and talk to the people who were involved, which included the pastor, members of the church and members of the organization. That's it."
"It's called journalism, First Amendment, all that stuff. All of you people who believe in the First Amendment absolutists, there you go. So why don't you talk to the actual person who is in charge of the organization and whose idea it was to have the protest at the church, before you start blaming me for stuff for which you have no idea."
