“In Judiciary Committee, we’re hearing from moms of girls and women beaten, raped, strangled, discarded and a boy poisoned to death by fentanyl."
The topic of discussion was violent crime committed by illegal immigrants, as victims’ family members testified of their terror and grief. The mother of murdered Texas 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray was present.
But Nadler wasn’t apparently completely present. Two Republicans, who were listening and watching Nadler, commented on Nadler’s evident lack of interest in the proceedings, even though he is the ranking Democrat there.
“From frustrated families in the audience @JudiciaryGOP hearing listening to witnesses who lost loved ones to violent illegal aliens. Hardly any Dems present – those who are…….,” wrote Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) on X as he featured a shot of Nadler apparently in dreamland.
“In Judiciary Committee, we’re hearing from moms of girls and women beaten, raped, strangled, discarded and a boy poisoned to death by fentanyl. Democrats:” Rep Dan Bishop (R-NC) noted, as he also shared a photo of a very relaxed Nadler.
Nadler acknowledged the grief of the witnesses in his opening remarks but couldn’t resist slamming the Republicans in response. “I would like to take a moment and express my sincerest condolences to all of our witnesses who have lost loved ones, and to all of their families. I cannot imagine how difficult this loss has been for you, and I appreciate your being here to share their stories. May their memories be a blessing,” Nadler said.
“Instead of working in a bipartisan fashion to find meaningful solutions to our broken immigration system, we are sitting in yet one more partisan hearing designed to divide us and to score political points before an election,” he added.
The committee heard testimony from eight witnesses. Among those who testified was Alexis Nungaray, who told the committee that two illegal immigrants from Venezuela stripped her daughter and strangled her to death. Patty Morin also told the representatives that her daughter Rachel was raped and murdered by an illegal immigrant while she was out jogging.
Since the Biden-Harris border crisis began, immediately following President Joe Biden’s inauguration, Nadler’s New York City base, like many large urban centers in the US, has been stressed by the influx of illegal immigration going on in the city.
