"I can fit in this car."
A Detroit-based plus-sized rapper is taking Lyft to court after a driver refused to give her a ride, claiming she was "too big to fit" in his car and might "burst his tires." Dank Demoss, whose real name is Dajua Blanding, recorded the incident earlier this month and posted it across her social media.
In the video, Blanding tells the driver, "I can fit in this car."
The driver, however, looks at Blanding and disagrees with her, replying, "Believe me, you can’t."
The driver assured Blanding she wouldn’t be charged for the canceled ride. In response, she went on to file a lawsuit, accusing Lyft of discrimination and seeking damages for emotional distress.
Blanding later told Fox 2, “I’ve been in cars smaller than that. I just want them to know that it hurt my feelings.” The rapper shared the clip online, asking her fans: “AM I WRONG? Lyft, what do you all have to say about this driver who discriminated against me?”
According to the lawsuit, the driver arrived in a Mercedes-Benz sedan but locked his doors and attempted to leave when he saw Blanding. She confronted him, but he insisted that his backseats couldn’t accommodate her size as he ws concerns about his tires. In the video, Blanding asked, “What do I have to do with your tires?”
Blanding’s attorneys, Jonathan Marko and Zach Runyan, argue that, with weight being a characteristic under Michigan law, that the driver’s refusal to transport her was discriminatory. Marko likened the incident to refusing someone a ride based on race or religion, saying, “I knew it was illegal, and I knew it was wrong.”
Runyan added, “Leaving someone stranded due to their weight is not just illegal; it’s potentially dangerous. What if she were left without a way to seek shelter? This could have ended much worse.”
While Lyft has yet to comment on the lawsuit.

That's not a woman. That's a pig. If she can fit on a pallet, she can call for a forklyft.
