One woman dead, one man injured after Toronto double stabbing

The police are investigating the incident as a homicide, marking Toronto's 62nd homicide of 2020.

A stabbing in the area of Bloorcourt Village in Toronto on Wednesday night left one woman dead and one man injured, CP24 reports.

Toronto police say they were called to the area just after 5 pm after a fight broke out between a man and a woman at a local business.

Upon arrival, police discovered the woman, named Tiglist "Tiggy" Lema, without vital signs. Despite attempts to save Lema's life through CPR, she was pronounced dead at the scene at around 6:20 pm.

The man was transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Police have kept the man in custody at the hospital in connection with the stabbing.

According to friends of the two people involved, they were a couple.
