The Associated Press declared Biden the winner at around 9 p.m. eastern time with 12 percent of the votes in.
In Michigan's Democratic primary President Joe Biden walked away with the win easily against other candidates Dean Phillips and Marianne Williamson, but he also had over 100,000 voters cast ballots against him in an "uncommitted" voting effort.
As final votes were tallied early Wednesday morning, the share of votes going to Biden amounted to 81 percent and the uncommitted vote was around 13 percent with over 100,000, many being Democrats, voting against the president.
As Biden was declared the winner of the primary on Tuesday evening by the Associated Press at around 9 p.m. eastern time with 12 percent of the votes in, Biden had 78.5 percent of the vote, and an uncommitted portion of around 16 percent was voting against the incumbent president.
A left-wing campaign called #ListenToMichigan popped up leading up to the primary that voiced opposition to Biden in the primary because of his policies in the Israel-Hamas war.
Many young Democrat voters have opposed Biden for not calling for an immediate ceasefire after Israel's started its defensive retaliation against the Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist attacks. Rep. Rashida Tlaib made a statement on the anti-Israel activism campaign earlier on Tuesday.
"I was proud today to walk in and pull a Democratic ballot and vote uncommitted," she stated, while dressed wearing a keffiyeh.
"We must make sure that our government is about us," she continued. "About the people. When 74 percent of Democrats in Michigan support a ceasefire, yet President Biden is not hearing us. This is the way we can use our democracy to say, 'Listen, listen to Michigan.'"
The #ListenToMichigan campaign pinned a post at the top of its social media page leading up to the primary insisting that Michigan voters go against Biden in protest of his policies.
