Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi named several congressmen to be Managers for the new impeachment trial of President Donald Trump.

Of those nine congressmen, one name that immediately stood out was Congressman Eric Swalwell (D-CA) who is alleged to have had a sexual relationship with Chinese communist spy Fang Fang.

According to a statement released by Pelosi "It is their constitutional and patriotic duty to present the case for the President’s impeachment and removal. They will do so guided by their great love of country, determination to protect our democracy and loyalty to our oath to the Constitution. Our Managers will honor their duty to defend democracy For The People with great solemnity, prayerfulness and urgency."

Pelosi then proceeded in the statement, to name the managers and their qualifications for the position of manager in the impeachment trial of the President on the charges of "high crimes and misdemeanors," for inciting the mob that assaulted the Capitol on Wednesday.

According to the report published by Axios, "Fang posed as an intern in Swalwell’s congressional office and even participated in his 2014 reelection campaign. As a well-connected political operative, she ushered high-profile representatives and donors to political events."

"Swalwell was eventually alerted of Fang's suspicious behavior in 2015, at which point his office maintains he had cut off ties with the woman."

As a response to the recent revelations, many Republicans have called for Swalwell’s removal from the House Intelligence Committee. Instead, Pelosi named him as an impeachment manager.

Republican House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy called for Swalwell's resignation, stating that the "House Intelligence Committee is a special committee. The members on it have access to many of America’s top national security secrets. Long story short—There are 200 other Democrats who would be better to be on the Intel Committee than Eric Swalwell."

Swalwell's behaviour was defended by Democratic House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who said in a press conference that she does not "have any concern about Mr. Swalwell. In terms of Mr. Swalwell, in the spring of 2015, the leadership of the House and the committee were informed that overtures from a Chinese person were being made to members of Congress. When that was made known to the members of Congress, it was over. You know, that was the end of any communication with those people."

Pelosi posted Swalwell’s bio part of the announcement:

"Congressman Swalwell serves on House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, where he chairs the Intelligence Modernization and Readiness Subcommittee, and on the Judiciary Committee. He is a former prosecutor and is the son and brother of law enforcement officers. He is serving his fifth term in Congress."

The other Democrat Managers of the impeachment trial are Reps. Jamie Raskin (MD), Lead Manager, Diana DeGette (CO), David Cicilline (RI) Congressman Joaquin Castro (TX), Congressman Ted Lieu (CA) Stacey Plaskett (NY), Congressman Joe Neguse (CO) and Madeleine Dean (PA).
