The 40 prisoners in Guantanamo Bay at the military prison will be fast-tracked for vaccination and will receive the doses within the coming several days.

Sources say that a Pentagon official has just signed a memo authorizing the delivery of the vaccine to the detainees on the US military base.

According to Fox News, the vaccines will be voluntary and not mandatory, in accordance with US and international law on human rights. Proponents of the vaccinations say that, if they are consented to, this will help speed up pending trails for many people in Guantanamo.

Vaccines have been available for people working as medics and some, but not all, of the troops at the base since Jan.8.

Among the people being held at the base are international criminals such as Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who is still on trial for being the mastermind behind the attacks that brought the NYC World Trade Center down on Sept. 11, 2001.

These express-vaccinations come in the wake of the Biden administration saying that it will "take months" for the rest of America to get access to the vaccine, and walking back on previous (pre-election) statements.
