As the province begins to open up and spring approaches, southern Ontario is bracing for a polar vortex of all things.

According to The Weather Network, Southern Ontario can expect temperatures approaching zero degrees and flurries at night thanks to "the coldest temperature anomaly on the planet."

Toronto will reach nighttime lows around -2 degrees by the end of the week.

The Weather Network reports:

"Snowfall isn't exceptionally unusual in northern Ontario in May, but it is quite extraordinary for parts of southern Ontario. This year’s snowfall threat will ramp up by Thursday for northern Ontario and by Friday for southern Ontario. It will also spill into the weekend with continuous threats of snow and rounds of graupel across the Great Lakes Basin."
