Portland, Ore. has canceled their Veteran's Day Parade due to lack of funding. The parade was originally set for Tuesday, Nov. 11, but it has been announced by organizers that it will not happen at all.

"We regret to announce that the 2025 Veteran’s Day Parade has been canceled. The Planning Team would like to thank all who have supported the Veteran’s Day Parade in the past, and will count on your support next year for 2026," organizers said in a statement.

"We WILL return with a stronger, renewed focus, to bring this important event that unites our community back to Portland! Again, we SINCERELY APPRECIATE all the support, and look forward to celebrating our proud shared heritage next year and beyond."

The parade typically costs $20,000 to put on, but this year, Napoleon Hodgers of the Portland chapter of the National Association for Black Veterans said he was not able to get sponsors. His view is that there is too much uncertainty in the Portland business community at this time.

The parade began in 1974 and spans a mile from NE Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to N Beech and NE Emerson. It has happened every year except for a few years during the Covid pandemic.
