As House Democrat leaders battle with the party's progressive wing, President Biden says his presidency will be determined by whether or not he can pass two massive spending bills within the next week.

On Thursday, President Biden was out rallying support for $1.75 trillion of spending related to social programs and climate change, which progressive wing of the Democratic Party say they want voted on before the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill.

According to Axios, both the president and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi attempted to woo progressives into voting on the infrastructure bill. Chairwoman of the Progressive Caucus Rep. Pramila Jayapal, however, called the chances of holding a vote on Thursday unlikely, saying that she doesn't think Democrats have the numbers necessary to pass both bills.

President Biden told fellow Democrats that he sees the events of the next week as a make or break moment. "I don’t think it’s hyperbole to say that the House and Senate majorities and my presidency will be determined by what happens in the next week," he said.

After giving one final speech on the bills Thursday morning, the president left for Europe without taking any questions.
