On Thursday, former President Donald Trump said he would consider world-renowned journalist Tucker Carlson as his running mate.

Trump, who is the current frontrunner in the GOP 2024 presidential primary, told the Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show that the former Fox News host as his potential Vice President could be a possibility because Carlson has "great common sense."

Clay Travis: "I want to give you a hypothetical here...Would Tucker Carlson be on your list of potential VPs?"

Donald Trump: "I like Tucker a lot. I guess I would. I think I'd say I would because he's got great common sense. You know when they say that 'you guys are conservative' or 'I'm conservative.' It's not that we're conservative. We have common sense. We want to have safe borders. We want to have a wall because walls work."

The 45th President brought up his recent interview with Tucker Carlson that occurred during the first GOP presidential debate in August. The interview was exclusively aired on X, formerly known as Twitter, and amassed more than 300 million views, making it the most-watched interview in history.

"Tucker wanted to do an interview during the first debate," Trump said. "We broke every record."

The question surrounding who could be Donald Trump's potential running mate has been a hot topic among Republicans. Recent polls show that Trump is leading President Biden in key swing states, in addition to dominating GOP rivals across the board like Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
