The network imposed severe restrictions for the debate, which have been heavily criticized by the GOP.
The Biden campaign won the coin toss and decided to select the right podium position, meaning President Biden is set to appear on the right side of television screens, and his top rival, Donald Trump, will be on the left.
The Trump campaign then chose Trump to deliver closing statements last, ensuring he would have the final word of the debate. Biden will give his final arguments first.
The debate will be hosted by CNN's Jake Tapper, who parrotted the RussiaGate hoax, and Dana Bash on Thursday, June 27 in Atlanta, Georgia. This is the first presidential debate between a former and incumbent president in US history, and it's far earlier in election season than usual.
The network imposed severe restrictions for the debate, which have been heavily criticized by the GOP. However, both candidates have agreed to the debate rules and structure.
In an attempt to keep things civil, there will be no studio audience and each candidate's microphone will be muted except for when it's their turn to talk. They are only allotted two minutes for each answer, one minute for rebuttals and one for responses to the rebuttals. Candidates will not be allowed to give an opening statement. The debate, which will last 90 minutes, will go straight into questioning. There will be two commercial breaks.
Independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. did not meet the requirements to appear at the debate.
