Ontario will be implementing a COVID-19 vaccination "passport" for non-essential businesses and services, including indoor dining, movie theatres, and gyms.

Government sources told CTV News that the certificates will not be required for retail shopping and outdoor dining, but will be for larger events such as concerts of festivals.

The vaccine passport will come in the form of a QR code, similar to the one implemented in Quebec on Wednesday. The QR code will be personalized, and businesses will be given an app to be able to verify the legitimacy of the QR code.

The policy is set to come into effect on September 22. Premier Doug Ford is expected to make an official announcement at 1 pm.
