REVEALED: Katie Hobbs demanded Twitter censor posts critical of her, calling Trump supporters 'neo-nazis'

A newly leaked email from Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs to Twitter support shows that she had the platform censor those who were critical of an August 2017 post that accused supporters of former President Donald Trump of being neo-nazis while she was in the Arizona state legislature. 

The controversial post said, "@realDonaldTrump has made it abundantly clear he's more interested in pandering to his neo-nazi base than being @POTUS for all Americans."

The post resurfaced in November 2020 when she was the secretary of state and led to many critics questioning her ability to certify the 2020 election without bias against the former president, with Hobbs writing in a reply to her post, "I mean we already knew this, right?" 

Using her official secretary of state email account, Hobbs wrote to Twitter support in the email obtained by Fox News, "I am not sure I can provide the information you are asking for because I reported and then blocked multiple users at the same time." She added, "The alt-right got a hold of a 3-year-old tweet on my account and have been sending harassing, abusive, and threatening tweets and direct messages for the last 2 days."  

AZCapitol's Brian Anderson told the outlet, "These emails leave no doubt that Katie Hobbs abused her position of power in government. She violated the First Amendment rights of people across Arizona in order to suppress valid criticism and prop up her 2022 gubernatorial campaign." He added, "It’s imperative that further investigations be initiated to shine a light on just how far Hobbs’s unconstitutional censorship campaign went — and whether it continues today."

With the release of the Twitter files in December, it was revealed that Hobbs' office emailed the Center for Internet Security (CIS) to get "Election Related Misinformation" removed from the platform. CIS forwarded the information to Twitter, to which it responded, "Thank You, we will escalate." 

A few hours later the Twitter employee said, "Thank you… both tweets have been removed from the service," with an employee at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), a branch under the federal government's Department of Homeland Security (DHS) copied to the email. 

Christina Bobb, an attorney for former President Trump at the time asked said she expects "this probably wasn't the only email that [Hobbs' office] sent."

She questioned on Steve Bannons War Room, "What else did Katie Hobbs have removed? And how much censorship took place under her office?"

Last month, Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee Jim Jordan (R-OH) revealed that the Biden White House also pressured Meta to "aggressively police vaccine-related content... including TRUE information."
