RuPaul's Drag Race winner James William Ross IV, whose stage name is Tyra Sanchez, was arrested last month after threatening to shoot a police officer in Starke, Florida

According to the arrest report obtained by TMZ, the famous drag queen was cited for assault on a law enforcement officer and resisting without violence. Ross was involved in a minor car accident, but when officers arrived, she began yelling at a cop.

After not being able to calm him down, the officer tried to place Ross in handcuffs. At that point, he allegedly threatened to shoot the officer. When Ross attempted to reach into his car, the officer attempted to subdue him, even deploying a tazer on the queen.

The report says that Ross then took off running, but police were able to apprehend him shortly after.

Under the Drag persona Tyra Sanchez, Ross won $25 thousand as the winner of the second season of the "Drag Race" television show in 2010. Since then, Ross has been the subject of controversy several times.

According to the Daily News, in 2015, Ross outraged fans when he told a person on Twitter to "go kill yourself." The drag queen posted threats on Facebook, resulting in him getting banned from DragCon in 2018.

Ross was previously arrested in 2020, after spray painting "Don't Move Here Ever!!" on the Atlanta, Georgia, apartment building he was living in. He was considered a squatter after not paying rent for months.

That same year, Ross announced he was going to retire from the Tyra Sanchez brand and from the entire drag scene. Eventually, he rebranded as "King Tyra," on his OnlyFans account in 2022.

RuPaul's Drag Race just finished its 15th season and has been on the air since 2009, with 8 seasons of the spin-off series RuPaul Drag Race All Stars. Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi even made an appearance on the show. She told the queens at the time, "You’re an inspiration, I hope you know because you really know your power. It’s about taking pride. And that’s what you do—take pride in yourselves."
