As of Monday, the province of Saskatchewan has officially dropped its requirement to show proof of vaccination in some public places.
"The reason we’re able to remove this policy is its run its course," said the province's premier, Scott Moe, on Feb 8 2022. "It has increased our vaccination rates in the province substantially since it was introduced,"
Premier Moe also stated during the Feb 8 press conference that this policy, which went into effect on Oct 1 2021, has "run its course," going on to comment that "it has increased our vaccination rates in the province substantially since it was introduced."
According to CTV News Regina, Saskatchewan will still continue to make proof of vaccine records and QR codes available for people who need them due to travel outside of the province.
The province of Alberta has already ended its vaccine requirements last Tuesday. Manitoba has iterated that all of its COVID-era restrictions will end on Mar 15 2022. Ontario appears to be about to follow suit, with Premier Doug Ford saying that that he plans to end vaccine requirements as well soon.
The indoor mask mandate in Saskatchewan, along with the self-quarantine mandate for people who test positive, are currently set to expire at the end of the month. There is no word yet on whether there are any plans to renew them.
