Peel police have recovered the vehicle involved in the alleged kidnapping of a woman in Brampton on Sunday, CP24 reports. The search continues for her and the suspect.
Around 3 am on Sunday, police fired shots at the black Honda Civic with license plate number BZHE247 that was allegedly used to abduct Salina Ouk, 23, from a home in the Mayfield-Mississauga Rds.
Police were originally called to the residence for a reported disturbance, "reports were a male was screaming and banging on the door of a residence." While responding, police found a male suspect in the driver's seat of the Civic and a female in the back seat, "There was an interaction, and two officers discharged their firearms in the direction of the vehicle," a police statement read.
According to police, the man then fled the area with the female victim, who did not go willingly.
The suspect has been identified as 21-year-old Kwami Garwood, police said they believe he is armed and dangerous. Garwood is wanted on several outstanding warrants in the Greater Toronto Area. He is wanted on a first-degree murder warrant in connection with last years shooting death of Andre Charles, 43.
Peel police are using their partners in the Ontario Provincial Police, Toronto Police Service, other neighbouring police services to help find the suspect and victim.
