Authorities have yet to reveal the man’s identity or his motive for attempting to scale the fence.
A man dressed entirely in black tried to climb the tall security fence surrounding the White House, a viral video shows. Witnesses reported hearing the man say "F*ck it" before making his way up the barrier.
The unidentified man was recorded by a tourist as he ran toward the South Grounds fence on Monday, pulling himself up the fence.
One onlooker can be heard saying "bro" as the climber made his way to the top. Meanwhile, Secret Service officers inside the White House perimeter rushed toward the scene, as uniformed officers outside observed the situation unfold.
As the man reached the top, he appeared to get caught on the spikes, hesitated, and then made the decision to climb back down—only to be immediately surrounded by agents.
The man who witnessed the incident told Fox 5 that he and his wife also saw rooftop snipers moving into position as security personnel closed in on the suspect.
"Saw this pretty surreal thing at the White House today," said X user InjuryPics, describing the incident. "This man walked by my wife and I as we were taking pics of the White House. He walked by us and said 'F$ck it' and started crossing barriers until he reached White House fence. Seeing the snipers on top scurrying around and dogs racing out on the lawn was wild."
Authorities have yet to reveal the man’s identity or his motive for attempting to scale the fence.
The 18-acre White House complex is protected by uniformed officers, special agents, mission support teams, and advanced security measures. It remains unclear whether the suspect will face charges.
