A transgender student at Loudon County's Freedom High School has been accused of filming students in the bathroom at school but when a victim is spoke out after he and his brother were filmed, he was the one suspended and banned from graduation.

The victim told 7News reporter Nick Minock that he wrote a message on the bathroom wall asking if others had been victimized by the same student. The high school allegedly knew about the trans student activities for years and kept it secret from parents.

The student said that Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) suspended him for 10 days and banned him from participation in graduation ceremonies because of his message asking if others had been victimized by the trans peeper.

"Sources tell me the filming has been going on for three years, more than 40 victims are involved, and that LCPS has known about the secret bathroom recordings for much longer than they’re telling parents," Minock reported. "Sources also tell me the student charged with unlawful filming is a male student who goes by a girls name, wears girls clothes, and has been seen using girls and boys bathrooms at school."

The student told Minock, “It’s an invasion of privacy." He said he wrote on the wall asking who had been victimized by the trans peeper, including an area for others to leave tally marks under "yes" or "no." Several students replied under "yes."

“You being a victim, your brother being a victim, is that what compelled you to write this question in the bathroom?” Minock asked the student.

“It was more just to figure out how many people he's actually affected and just kind of speak up against the fact that nothing gets taken serious [by the school],” the student said. “And I kind of did it because we haven't had a voice all year about stuff. And the fear is that he's actually going to end up coming back to Freedom [High School].”

“It ruined my senior year," he said. "I was ready to be done, walk the stage with my friends, have my advisor teacher say my name, my parents see it, my grandma see it. I'm going to have to call my grandma and tell her that. Because of me speaking up, I'm not going to be able to walk at graduation.”

The victim's parents are trying to fight the school's disciplinary actions. 7News asked the Loudon County School Board if they believed the punishment was appropriate, if it was discretionary or was the typical punishment for “vandalism” or creating what the school called a “substantial disturbance.” LCPS did not respond. LCPS superintendent Aaron Spence has also not responded to the questions.

LCPS has the policy that students can use the bathroom of their supposed gender identity. The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office has said that the student filmed people in more than just bathrooms and has asked for more victims to come forward.
