Fox News correspondent Bill Melvin told America’s Newsroom that on Thursday morning, Eagle Pass border agents arrested two convicted sex offenders attempting to cross the border illegally. One came from Mexico, the other from Nicaragua.
The number of Venezuelans showing up at the border continues to decrease following the recent order from the Department of Homeland Security to expel them.
That same morning in the same county, the Texas Department of Public Safety found and arrested 34 illegal immigrants, all from Mexico, who were hitching a ride on a train. It's not uncommon to find groups of migrants having boarded trains in the area, as it is their hope that they can evade law enforcement and successfully make their way deeper into the United States.
The Arizona border just outside the city of Tucson saw the attempted smuggling of sixteen illegal immigrants crammed into a single pickup truck. The truck, driven by a Mexican national, had attempted to cross into the United States through the desert but was stopped by border patrol officers.
Despite the number of successful apprehensions of illegal migrants that are reported, there continue to be sections of the US border without appropriate border control. Groups of illegal immigrants are reported to be crossing over the Rio Grande river and walking the several hundred yards into downtown Eagle Pass, Texas, without ever being apprehended. It is estimated by border patrol that, in this sector alone, as many as 3,000 illegal immigrants make it across this border and into the country, uncaught, every single week.
There is increasingly violent behavior being reported at the border as well. The previous ten days saw multiple attacks on US border control agents by illegal immigrants.
Despite these mounting border problems, it appears that the Biden administration is continuing to spend government money on everything except border security.
