"Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA."
Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone put out a statement, saying, "inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA. We especially want to thank our parent company Paramount—a Skydance Capitulation."
Everything about this statement was trolling. Apple and Google both adjusted their maps after Trump's recent pronouncement that Lake Ontario, bordering both the state of New York and the province of Ontario, would henceforth be known as Lake America. MapQuest, notably and also somewhat inconsequentially, did not make the name change to its maps.
The new season of South Park will premiere on Sept. 16 at 10 pm on Comedy Central.
Paramount has also been in the process of acquiring Warner Bros., a move a bunch of leftist celebs seriously frown upon. Trump has been in favor of the merger. Under the leadership of Larry and David Ellison, Paramount has been reworking its CBS network to be not quite as Trump-critical as it used to be. Again, the leftists aren't big fans of that plan.
South Park, er South America, has been on the air since 1997 and has poked fun at countless celebs and political figures. Charlie Kirk was spoofed on the show during season 27 in the "Got a Nut" episode, which premiered just a month ahead of his murder.
Trump was depicted as being in a romantic relationship with Satan. JD Vance was shown as Tattoo from Fantasy Island. South Park took down the Charlie Kirk episode from streaming, but Kirk had been good-natured about it and had fun with being represented on the show.
