Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ support among voters is approaching its lowest, dropping down into the teens as 2024 front-runner Donald Trump’s support approaches its peak.
The poll, conducted by the Morning Consult between June 9-11, after the indictment against Trump was announced, found that DeSantis’ support has slumped to 19 percent. DeSantis’ lowest polling was seen in May when he received around 17 percent of GOP support.
Trump has seen a boost in support, up from 55 percent last week before the news of the indictment to 59 percent now.
In a hypothetical rematch between Biden and Trump, the former 2020 election rivals are tied at 42 percent. In a matchup between Biden and DeSantis, DeSantis trails Biden by four points, at 43 to 39 percent, respectively.
The Morning Consult poll was conducted between June 9 and 11 of 3,419 potential Republican primary voters and has a margin of error of 1 to 2 percentage points.
A recent CBS News and YouGov poll found that President Trump has a commanding lead over his Republican opponents, bringing in 61 percent of the support over DeSantis’ 23 percent.
In California, Trump holds a 34-point lead over DeSantis among Republican voters, at 53.4 and 18.9 percent, respectively.
The poll comes as Trump is set to be arraigned on Tuesday in Miami on charges stemming from the alleged mishandling of classified documents.
