"January 6th is ingrained in my memory and it should be ingrained in every single person's memory in the United States of America."
The ladies of The View on Friday expressed their concern that the Gaza camp protests across the US, mostly localized on college campuses as the school term comes to a close, will distract voters from what they see as the more important protest, J6, which occurred over three years ago.
The ladies' worry that the focus on the current protests, as opposed to those from years past, will help former President Donald Trump in the November election. Previously, the ladies said they were not necessarily in favor of a Trump v. Biden debate as Biden might "flub" an on-stage appearance.
Co-host Sarah Haines quoted a donor who said that people would "be flocking" to the RNC fundraiser for Trump on Saturday "due to the horror of nightly images they see on TV." News media has been laser focused on the protests, broadcasting scenes of students camped out on campus quads in matching tents demanding schools divest from Israel and calling for the eradication of that nation.
Haines said that fundraising has been a problem for the former president, though the Trump campaign announced at the Saturday fundraiser that they'd raised over $76 million in April Co-host Sunny Hostin interjected, "Do they remember the visuals on January 6?" She continued, "Do they not remember those visuals of chaos?"
"I think the visuals, literally humans look at the recent visions," Haines responded. "So nightly image right now matters more to them than January 6th."
"January 6th is ingrained in my memory and it should be ingrained in every single person's memory in the United States of America," Hostin said.
Alyssa Farah Griffin pointed out that "a lot of the imagery looks similar." She added, "You know, you're gonna see Republicans seeing windows being smashed, things being defaced on college campuses. And it evokes that same sense of loss."
Joy Behar jumped in, saying "Somebody's behind that with money, I'm sorry, who bought those tents, for example?"
University campuses have seen the blossoming of Gaza camps at their schools, filled with students and outside agitators and protesters. Activists broke into administration buildings at Columbia University as well as USC. Clashes erupted at UCLA, leading LAPD to come in to separate the factions.
At Columbia University in New York, activists took over Hamilton Hall. NYPD came in with overwhelming force and hundreds of officers, a tactic employed to keep both activists and officers safe. Activists at Portland State University occupied the school's library and that school caved to some of the activists' demands.
More than 1,300 Americans were arrested on J6 charges, most of them prosecuted for misdemeanor trespassing.
