Police have confirmed that three people were killed and two were injured during a shooting in Montreal's northeastern end on Monday evening.

According to CP24, Veronique Comtois – a spokesperson for the Montreal police department – has stated that several 911 calls were made at around 7:00 pm regarding gunshots in the neighborhood of Riviere-des-Praires. The shots were fired towards an apartment building from the outside – hitting five people.

Police only confirmed one dead at the beginning. However, two others died later that night. The status of the two injured victims is not yet known.

No arrests have been made at this time. But investigators were on the scene to examine the incident along with forensic technicians. The mayor of Riviere-des-Praires-Pointe-aux-Trembles borough Caroline Bourgeois has been in touch with police.
