Earlier this month, police in New Britain, Connecticut, arrested five individuals who were setting up meetings with someone they believed was an underage child for sex. Detectives posed as an adult with access to an underage child, and the suspect negotiated prices for sex with the child. The suspects were arrested at the hotel where they had arranged to meet.

The five suspects included three illegal immigrants: Bruno Orlando Medina Mendoza, Jorge Manuel Escobar Quispe, and Raul Andrey Echavez Castro. The first two men were from Peru, while the third was from Colombia.

The three entered the US illegally in 2023. Quispe and Castro entered through Arizona, and Mendoza entered through California. Each was released into the US under the Biden administration.

“These illegal aliens thought they were arranging a meeting with an underage child for sex. They now face charges for sexual abuse of a minor, attempt to commit sexual contact with a victim under 16, and sexual assault,” said Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis. “These pedophiles were RELEASED into our country by the Biden administration. We are calling on Connecticut sanctuary politicians to commit to not releasing these child predators from jail and to promise they will turn them over to ICE. It is common sense. These pedophiles should NEVER be loose in American neighborhoods again.”

The three men face charges of commercial sexual abuse of a minor, criminal attempt to commit sexual contact with a victim under the age of 16, and second-degree sexual assault. Mendoza already has a criminal history that includes assault and child neglect arrests. Castro has a prior arrest for disturbing the public peace.

ICE has lodged a detainer asking Connecticut, which the DOJ has designated as a sanctuary state, not to release the men from jail.
