"The Vice President has made it clear that she has policies that make a difference. Her border policies are the most strongest, the fairest we've seen."
Vice presidential candidate Tim Walz appeared on Fox News Sunday with Shannon Bream, where he praised Vice President Kamala Harris' border policies as the strongest and most fair the US has seen.
During the interview, Bream questioned Walz's record as governor, citing a Wall Street Journal article that highlighted his decision to sign legislation in Minnesota allowing illegal immigrants to apply for driver's licenses, qualify for free tuition at universities, and enroll in Minnesota's free healthcare program for low-income residents. Bream asked Walz whether these programs incentivize illegal immigration and why legal residents should bear the cost of these services through their taxes.
Walz first deflected the question, instead emphasizing Minnesota's status as a top business state and the safety of its roads. He then went on to claim that Harris has policies that will help the current problems occurring on the southern border.
"The Vice President has made it clear that she has policies that make a difference. Her border policies are the most strongest, the fairest we've seen,” Walz claimed.
Bream interrupted, noting that many critics, including some Democrats, would disagree with his assessment. Walz then responded by urging Congress to pass immigration legislation to strengthen border security.
Vice President Harris has faced ongoing concerns from American voters regarding her handling of the migrant crisis at the southern border. In the past, she has advocated for several controversial positions on immigration, including decriminalizing border crossings and providing free healthcare to illegal immigrants. She also opposed former President Trump's proposed border wall, referring to it as a "medieval vanity project."
