For the 3rd week in a row, the weekly anti-lockdown protest which has been ongoing since April was met with heavy police presence.
This time, instead of the usual Dundas Square many gathered at Queen’s Park, where the police were quick to try and move them along.
Protest organizer Kelly Anne Wolfe was once again arrested after being issued a warning. Police claimed she was arrested for "breaching her conditions" and distributing media, having recently been charged with Common Nuisance.
The protestors then began their “Essential Exercise March,” since exercise is deemed essential under the current stay-at-home order.
Police issued a formal warning to the demonstrators on Twitter, saying that while they recognize their right to protest, the gathering violates the rule against congregations of more than five people, further warning that tickets will be given and arrests will be made as needed to disperse the gathering.
The protest continued through the afternoon as activists marched through the Kensington Market area.
Many observers expressed disapproval of the anti-lockdown demonstrators, some giving the middle finger and other shouting in distain at them.
An altercation broke out between the anti-lockdown marchers and a man who says his father is on a ventilator in Florida. The man asked "how is this not illegal," speaking of the demonstration.
The protesters decided it was time to conclude their demonstration when several mounted police were spotted across Queen's Park.
Protests in Toronto against lockdown mandates have occurred regularly each week, resulting in arrests and clashes with law enforcement.
This is a developing story.
