Another business in the Greater Toronto Area has chosen to defy lockdown orders and re-open. This time, a gym.
Express Fitness in Scarborough announced their intention to re-open outside of Adamson Barbecue, a restaurant which first re-opened to indoor dining, and then re-opened despite being issued an order to close.

Although the events at Adamson Barbecue played a part in their decision, the primary catalyst was the eviction notice they were issued on Monday. “We want to be heard” manager Sam said, adding that they would like the government to be fair and consider small businesses.
Speaking to The Post Millennial, owner Alex Babinets said “We don’t believe the government has properly justified deciding what’s essential and what is not essential.

It has been argued that gyms should be declared essential on account of the health benefits they bring.
A recent study showed gyms to be 500 times safer that average public space, likely owing to the strong hygiene measures gyms took when the pandemic first broke out. “Gyms get blamed the most” Babinets said. “People who go to gyms are concerned about health.

Police were quick to move in and issue a ticket. The amount of the ticket was undisclosed to The Post Millennial.
