Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Natural Resources Minister Seamus O'Regan held a joint announcement on Monday, where they revealed details of their government's plan of training 2,000 people to do energy audits for greener home renovation.
The Liberals will be investing up to $10 million in contracts to train energy advisors, who will help people save on their home's energy usage.
Trudeau said that better installation of windows and better insulation in homes could help in saving energy and helping the environment.
"Before any work gets going on your house, you need an energy advisor that can tell you where you're losing heat in the winter, or why your house is getting too hot in the summer," said Trudeau.
"We know that there's going to be a bigger demand for energy advisors now and in the coming years, as more people retrofit their homes," the prime minister continued.
"Today, we're announcing a $10 million commitment to recruit, train, and mentor up to 2,000 new energy advisors right across the country."
The program will aim to provide up to $5,000 in grants to homeowners who want to save on energy usage.
