On Tuesday, the Trudeau Liberals refused to give unanimous consent to a Conservative motion condemning the use of blackface.

The Alberta MP for Peace River—Westlock Arnold Viersen brought the motion forward.

Viersen's motions states "That the House deplores the use of blackface and denounces its use at all times."

The motion was unable to reach unanimous consent, with video from inside the House revealing commotion as it was unable to pass. At one point, a man can be heard yelling "racist."

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has been seen in photographs and video wearing blackface on a multitude of occasions.

One photo emerged the night before the federal elections, depicting Trudeau in blackface at what appeared to be an "Arabian Nights" themed event held in spring of the year 2001, and even appears in the yearbook of West Point Grey Academy in Vancouver, where Trudeau was teaching drama at the time.

Video has also shown Trudeau dressed in blackface on a separate occasion.

Trudeau has previously apologized for the occasions, stating: "I have spoken many times about how deeply I regret my actions, and hurt very many people. At the same time, we need to focus on doing better every day, regardless of what we did or haven't done in our past."
