"I wish them a lot of luck. I think he's a great player, a great guy. And I think she's a terrific person. So, I wish them a lot of luck," said President Trump.
A reporter asked Trump for his reaction to the breaking news engagement during a Cabinet meeting, in which the president responded, "I wish them a lot of luck. I think he's a great player, a great guy. And I think she's a terrific person. So, I wish them a lot of luck."
Swift and Kelce, both 35, announced their engagement on Tuesday via a joint Instagram post after two years of dating. The post, which has amassed over 14 million likes so far, featured the caption "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married," and included several photos of Kelce proposing to Swift in a lush, romantic garden setting.
Trump's history with the world's most famous female singer has been contentious. In September 2024, the president declared on Truth Social, "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!" following her endorsement of then-Vice Democrat President Kamala Harris for the 2024 presidential election. Additionally, Trump claimed in May 2025 that Swift was "no longer HOT" and made unsubstantiated allegations that she was "booed out of the stadium" at Super Bowl LIX, where Kelce's Chiefs lost to the Philadelphia Eagles, People Magazine reported.

Swift has also been critical of the president, referring to his leadership as an "autocracy" and using other unflattering words. Despite this, President Trump appears to have set aside their ongoing feud, at least for a day.
Kelce helped design Swift's Kindred Lubeck and Artifex Fine Jewelry engagement ring, which consists of a massive Old Mine Brilliant Cut diamond in the shape of a rectangle with antique references.
