Detroit police have taken a 15-year-old suspect into custody after a shooting late Friday night left one woman dead and another fighting for her life on the city's east side. The shooting happened at around 11:15 pm outside a liquor store in the 15500 block of East Warren Avenue in Detroit's Morningside neighborhood.

Police said officers found two women who had been shot. One was pronounced dead, while the second victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition, Fox2 reports.

Authorities said the suspect arrived at the location before the shooting and then fled on foot. Police initially warned the public that the suspect was considered armed and dangerous and asked residents to be on the lookout.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting have not been released, and Detroit police have not said what may have prompted the attack.

The suspect was later taken into custody. Authorities have not released additional details about the arrest or identified the suspect.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Detroit Police Department's Homicide Unit at 313-596-5260. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP or through DetroitRewards.TV.
