69 percent of black voters approve of Trump’s job performance, compared to 50 percent of white voters.
In his first week in office, President Donald Trump has a higher approval rating among black voters than white voters.
A recent poll conducted by AtlasIntel found that 69 percent of black voters approve of Trump’s job performance, compared to 50 percent of white voters. Conversely, 31 percent of black voters and 49 percent of white voters disapproved of his performance. The survey was conducted between January 21 and 23 and included 1,882 respondents, with a margin of error of +/- 2 percent.
A report by Newsweek noted that AtlasIntel was the most accurate pollster in the 2024 election, successfully predicting Trump’s victory in both the Electoral College and the popular vote. The results highlight Trump’s significant gains among black voters, surpassing any Republican candidate in recent memory. Trump secured 20 percent of the black vote in the 2024 election, up from 13 percent in 2020 and 8 percent in 2016.
Immigration emerged as a key issue among black voters, with 72 percent identifying it as a key issue, a higher percentage than the 52 percent of white voters who ranked it as their top concern. This aligns with Trump’s actions immediately upon taking office, including executive orders aimed at tightening immigration policies. These measures include declaring a national emergency at the southern border, signing an executive order ending birthright citizenship for children of illegal immigrants, cracking down on sanctuary cities, and deploying military resources to aid deportation efforts.
The poll found overall support for Trump’s immigration reform, which comes as no surprise, considering it has been a key issue in his presidential campaigns. 54 percent of respondents said they strongly or mostly favor Trump’s proposal for mass deportations. However, slightly more voters opposed than supported his order to end birthright citizenship for children of illegal immigrants.
