The lead is greater than the margin of error at 3.1 percent.
Donald Trump leads Joe Biden by five points in the state of Georgia ahead of the Thursday's presidential debate in Atlanta, according to a new poll. This comes as Trump has been leading in several swing states that are key to winning the 2024 presidential election.
According to a new Atlanta-Journal Constitution/University of Georgia poll, after Trump's conviction in the NYC trial and leading up to the first debate with Biden, Trump leads 43 to 38 points. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. received 9 percent support from likely voters in the state, however, he is not expected to qualify for the ballot.
About 70 percent of those in the poll said that the country is headed in the wrong direction. More young voters agreed with this sentiment than any other age group in the poll. Another 8 percent in the poll were undecided and 2 percent more were split between other candidates in the presidential race. It was conducted from June 11-22 and included 1,000 voters in the poll and had a margin of error of 3.1 percent.
The debate between Biden and Trump is set to take place this Thursday and will be hosted by broadcast network CNN. It is set to kick off at 9 pm and will be moderated by Jake Tapper as well as Dana Bash. Tapper has come under fire in recent days for his history of openly hating Trump.
According to the latest polling averages from Real Clear Polling, Trump leads, not only in Georgia, but also Arizona, Nevada, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina.
