GOP frontrunner President Donald Trump took aim at the Biden administration's rush to war during his speech in Erie, PA on Saturday.

"Congress should immediately vote to block Joe Biden's recent call-up of reserve forces," he said, noting the recent call-up of reserves by the Biden administration. Earlier in July, Biden called up military reserve units to deploy to active duty in Europe in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve. The Pentagon later approved hazard pay for troops stationed in Ukraine, backdating that to April 2023. The amount is up to an additional $225 per month.

"We're sending troops to Europe to fight," Trump continued, as the crowd booed those efforts. "We're sending troops to fuel this escalating conflict. Not a single American life should be put at risk because Crooked Joe Biden has been illegally paid off. He's been paid off," Trump insisted.

He was referring to recent revelations that the CEO of Burisma, a Ukrainian energy company on whose board Hunter Biden sat to the tune of $83,000 per month, stated that he paid Hunter and Joe Biden $10 million collectively. The money was allegedly to assist the company both with getting out from under investigations into their shady dealings in Ukraine, and to establish a foothold in the American market.

The US has been sending billions of dollars in aid and weapons to Ukraine since Russia invadaded that nation in February 2022. Biden has made several promises as to the extent of that aid, such as not sending long-range missiles, tanks, F-16s and troops, but with the exception of the long-range missiles, which President Zelensky keeps begging fore, Ukraine is in possession of all of those US resources.

"This is a corrupt president," Trump said, going on to note that it's not usual for a former persident to blast a current president, but that essentially the stakes for the nation are too great for him to remain silent.

"I would of never said, that," he said, "I have too much respect for the office of the presidency. And I never said that, I can't say great things about him because he's been a horrible president, but I would never say–but y'know what? Now we have to take the gloves off. They took the gloves off so now we take the gloves off."

The crowd went wild at this. Trump was referring to the two cases Biden's Department of Justice is leveling at him, going so far as to indict a maintenance man at Trump's Mar-a-Lago club and residence over allegations of destroying surveillance footage after a subpoena was issued. The prosecutions, along with two others in Georgia and New York, are widely believed to be political in nature with the goal of preventing Trump from attaining a second term in office.

"And Europe," Trump continued, "should be paying their fair share–they're not." When he was in office, Trump pushed NATO nations to begin paying more for their own protection and not leaving the bulk of the burden of those costs on the US to handle. He was successful in his efforts.

Trump has said that were he in office in 2022, Russia would not have felt at liberty to invade Ukraine, and he's said that were he to win back the White House, he would have the conflict between the two nations ended within days.

Operation Atlantic Resolve is the official name of the operation supporting the war in Ukraine, and was formed in response to Russia's invasion of Crimea in 2014. Operation Atlantic Resolve has been funded under the European Deterrence Initiative, and is intended, thus far, to strengthen NATO.
