"This guy doesn’t want there to be Peace as long as he has America’s backing."
Trump posted to Truth Social in response to an article where Zelensky said that the end of the war with Russia is "very, very far away."
"This is the worst statement that could have been made by Zelenskyy, and America will not put up with it for much longer!" Trump wrote. "It is what I was saying, this guy doesn’t want there to be Peace as long as he has America’s backing and, Europe, in the meeting they had with Zelenskyy, stated flatly that they cannot do the job without the US – Probably not a great statement to have been made in terms of a show of strength against Russia. What are they thinking?

Zelensky said that any peace deal brokered by the United States is "very, very far away" and added that despite the disastrous meeting with Trump at the White House last Friday, he expects that the US will continue supporting the country.
“I think our relationship (with the US) will continue, because it’s more than an occasional relationship,” Zelensky said, per the Associated Press. “I believe that Ukraine has a strong enough partnership with the United States of America," he added, explaining that he thinks the US will continue to aid Ukraine in the war against Russia.
This comes as officials in the Trump administration have been holding talks about ending all aid to Ukraine after the meeting last week, which ended with Zelensky getting kicked out of the White House.
Trump, as well as Vice President JD Vance, said that Zelensky was not showing enough gratitude to the US for the aid that has been provided in the war effort, which is over $180 billion total.
