Just after noon on Monday, Donald Trump was officially sworn in as the 47th president of the United States. The ceremony, in which Trump’s swearing-in was preceded by the swearing-in of his Vice President JD Vance, took place inside the Capitol Rotunda in response to freezing temperatures in the nation’s capital.

Surrounded by his family, lawmakers, and other noteworthy attendees, Trump used the Bible given to him by his late mother as well as the Lincoln Bible and raised his right hand to take the oath of office. The oath of office was administered by Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts.

Trump, who has made one of the greatest comebacks in political history, appeared with his five children as well as his wife, Melania Trump. His youngest, Barron Trump, stood by along with Eric, Tiffany, Ivanka, and Don Jr.

A large crowd also gathered at the Capital One Arena to watch a stream of the swearing in ceremony, and cheered as Trump was sworn into office. The arena was used on Sunday by Trump for a large victory rally.

Pomp and circumstance-style music played as people cheered and clapped in celebration of the ceremony.

JD Vance was also sworn in as Vice President on Monday morning. Vance was sworn as he placed his hand on a copy of the Bible that belonged to his maternal great-grandmother. The Bible was given to Vance by his grandmother in 2003 when he was entering the South Carolina Marine Corps Recruiting Depot.

Vance was surrounded by his wife and family as he was sworn into office. He married Usha Chilukuri while both were students at Yale and have had three children together. Some in attendance for the ceremony included many of Trump's Cabinet nominee appointments, Elon Musk, all Supreme Court Justices, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, and many others.

Vance leaves his seat in the Senate for the state of Ohio, to be replaced by Jon Husted. It was rumored that Vivek Ramaswamy had a chance at getting picked by Ohio's Republican Governor Mike DeWine, but chose his lieutenant governor to fill the position instead.
