The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario on Monday morning announced restrictions against Dr. Mark Trozzi and Dr. Rochagne Kilian, prohibiting them from issuing any more medical exemptions for the COVID-19 vaccine.
The ban also extends to issuing medical exemptions for mandatory mask requirements and for COVID testing, in an incident similar to one which happened in Florida in the US on Sep. 17 2021.
Both doctors have been vocally opposed to the vaccines, and have spoken out against them recently.
According to CTV News Toronto, "Kilian, in particular, has previously been a speaker at several rallies organized by the group 'Grey Bruce Freedom Fighters' and last month resigned from her position as an emergency room doctor in protest over the Grey Bruce Health Services handling of the pandemic."
The College cited a 2018 piece of legislation when handing down the restrictions on the two doctors. The text grants them the powers to "suspend or impose terms, conditions or limitations on a member’s certificate of registration where the college believes that the conduct exposes or is likely to expose patients to harm or injury."
Ontario's Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Kieran Moore said that he believed that no more than five individuals out of every 100,000 people in the general population should be genuinely eligible for a medical exemption.
He went on to say that the only two medical reasons for an exemption for the vaccine, in his opinion, were a documented allergy to one of the ingredients of the vaccine, or a provably increased risk of myocarditis.
This same risk of myocarditis has caused the Moderna vaccine to be recently suspended in Scandinavian countries, while further studies are conducted.
