As Sheehy and law enforcement tried to pry him from the chamber, a snap could be heard on the video and the man's arm appeared to break.

A chaotic scene erupted in a Senate hearing on Wednesday when Senator Tim Sheehy (R-MT) jumped into action to help US Capitol Police officers who were attempting to escort a pro-Palestinian protester out of the hearing.

The encounter left the man being escorted out with a broken arm. Video of the incident went viral on X on Wednesday, where the man, identified as Brian McGinnis, a Marine Corps veteran who is running as the Green Party candidate for Senate in North Carolina, tried to grab hold of the door as he was getting dragged from the Senate hearing.

As Sheehy, a former Navy SEAL, and law enforcement tried to pry him from the chamber, a snap could be heard on the video and the man's arm appeared to break.

The situation appeared to calm down when the loud snap was heard. Sheehy posted a statement in reaction to the incident, saying, "Capitol Police were attempting to remove an unhinged protester from the Armed Services hearing. He was fighting back. I decided to help out and deescalate the situation. This gentleman came to the Capitol looking for a confrontation, and he got one. I hope he gets the help he needs without causing further violence."

Before the scuffle took place, McGinnis stood up in the middle of the Senate Armed Services Subcommittee on the Current Readiness of the Joint Force and yelled out, "America does not want to send its sons and daughters to war for Israel."

Police immediately acted to remove him, and that is when Sheehy jumped into the fray of the situation. Capitol Police said in a statement, per Fox News, "An unruly man who started to illegally protest during a hearing put everyone in a dangerous position by violently resisting and fighting our officers’ attempts to remove him from the room."

Three officers were treated for injuries after trying to remove McGinnis. The man is facing three counts of assaulting an officer, three counts of resisting arrest, a crowding charge, as well as obstructing and incommoding related to the shouting in the Senate hearing.

McGinnis has previously claimed that he suffers from mental illness over the war going on in Gaza, calling it a "genocide."
