Iranian warheads were recovered by US forces during the disrupted mission.
During the ship-boarding mission that went awry with two missing Navy SEALs last week, US forces recovered Iranian warheads off the coast of Yemen.
The mission was disrupted when a Navy SEAL fell off the side of a ship as a result of rough waters. Another went in after him, as is policy with the SEALs, and they still have not been found as of Tuesday morning.
US forces had been searching for an Iranian shipment of weaponry and some of the confiscated material from the ship containing the military arms held Iranian warheads, according to an official who spoke to the Washington Post.
A huge search and rescue operation has been taking place off the coast of Yemen in the Gulf of Aden to find the missing SEALs. As of this report, they are yet to be identified.
As operations for the search and rescue began, other US troops searched the vessel that was allegedly transporting Iranian arms to Yemen. When the team boarded the ship, a crew of about a dozen were taken into custody and weaponry onboard was confiscated by US forces.
The warhead and other weaponry that was intercepted last week were going to be transferred into Yemen, one US official told the outlet. The Pentagon remains hopeful that the SEALs will be found alive.
The events highlight the struggle the Biden administration has had controlling the actions of Houthi terrorists in the region of Yemen with the added anti-Israel sentiment the administration has dealt with domestically.
Houthis in the Red Sea have been causing havoc related to shipments, through which about 10 percent of all world trade passes.
Last week, the Biden administration, after weeks of dealing with the attacks, bombed the Houthis in Yemen. Afterwards, the White House was descended upon by one of the largest anti-Israel protests that has occurred since October 7, when a mob attempted to rip down and scale the security fence guarding the building in protest of the retaliation of the bombings.
