Stacy Langton, a resident of Fairfax, Virginia, and a mother of a child in the county's public school system, said that she has now been barred from entering her son's high school library weeks after she addressed the county school board over the presence of graphically sexually explicit books.
Langton told the Washington Examiner that the school's acting principal, Maureen Keck, informed her last week that she was not allowed to enter the library after she checked out a book with her son earlier in the week.
"[Keck] told me that no parents were allowed into the library," Langton said. "So, I asked her to send me the specific policy so I could see it for myself," said Langton.
Langton said that the school librarian did not mention any such policy and even helped the family find the book they were looking for.
The Washington Examiner reported that in response to Langton's request to see the alleged policy, Keck sent her a school policy that reportedly makes no mention of restricting parent access to the library.
The school board usually allots a brief window for the community members who are selected to speak. During her remarks, Langton was cut off before her allotted two minutes to speak were done at a school board meeting held on Sept. 23.
Langton told the Washington Examiner that she plans on speaking at the board’s meeting on Thursday to finish what she had attempted to tell the board in September, saying, "I still have no accountability." She said she and other members of her family have been facing death threats since she chose to speak out.
The Virginia mother became a centerpiece of Virginia Governor-elect Glenn Youngkin's campaign ads in October after a video went viral of her speaking to the Fairfax County school board, demanding answers over the presence of material in the school library that depicted sex between adult men and teenagers.
Langton was made a key element in Youngkin's successful campaign. The Republican victor ran on an education platform that was supported by a majority of Virginia parents over Democrat candidate Terry McAuliffe.
